Free Printable Summer Wreath Craft for Kids

I love summer, the longer days and warmer weather just make everything feel 100 times better to me!

When the weather is good outside I know that many kids (mine included) aren’t as likely to spend as much time crafting and to be honest I have no issue with that, I think it’s important to make the most of the good weather and get outdoors.

There’s definitely still times though when the weather isn’t amazing or you need a quiet time activity and that’s what this summer craft is perfect for.

Featuring loads of our favourite things about summer from ice cream to sandcastles this easy craft is a great way to do something creative and fun and the finished craft is perfect for using as a cute decoration at home or in classrooms.

It’s a great way to get kids to practice their coloring and scissor skills and you can print as many copies as you like, meaning it’s ideal for using with groups whether that’s at home, in classrooms, at summer camp or in libraries.

What’s Included in our Summer Wreath Printable

This printable is designed as a two page black and white PDF for kids to color in.

The first page contains the summer wreath outline as well as a graphic of a finished wreath so you can see what your wreath craft should look like.

The second page contains all of your summer decorations including a ‘summer fun’ banner, hearts, flip flops, a butterfly, sun, kite, ice cream, watermelon, sandcastle, beach ball, popsicle and flowers.

Supplies Needed for This Summer Craft

  • Summer wreath PDF
  • Printer paper or cardstock and a printer
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Colored pencils, markers or crayons
  • Optional – string or yarn

How to Make a Summer Wreath Craft

Start by printing both pages of the PDF onto white paper or cardstock.

Two page summer wreath craft printed onto white paper

Normal white printer paper is the most low-cost option and is easier for kids to cut but if you want to make your wreath a little more sturdy then opt for cardstock instead.

Color in the wreath template and all of the summer themed decorations. If you want to speed up this activity a little then you could leave the wreath itself white or you could print the page with the wreath onto colored paper, yellow or blue would be great choices for this.

Cut out the wreath and all of the decorations, you’ll find a dotted line around each of these to help guide you.

Glue all of the decorations onto the wreath and then add the banner at the bottom of the wreath.

If you would like to hang this wreath up then you could tie a loop of ribbon or yarn through the middle of the wreath or fix a loop of ribbon to the back of your summer wreath craft using some tape.
